System integrator

A system integrator (or systems integrator) is a person or company that specializes in bringing together component subsystems into a whole and ensuring that those subsystems function together, a practice known as system integration. They also solve problems of automation (source).

System integrators can also be abbreviated as SIs. Typically in the manufacturing sector, they are the companies that bring together an array of software, hardware, or networking products to build a system that helps with the automation of a process.

System integrators, in a sense, are the middlemen between the suppliers (component vendors) and the end-users (manufacturers). They are usually the problem-solvers for their clients (manufacturers). Typically, these manufacturers do not have a dedicated engineering team and see it as more financially sustainable to contract their automation projects to a company that specializes in providing professional integration services.
