Digital Transformation

Digital transformation refers to the adoption of digital technology to transform services or businesses by replacing non-digital or manual processes with digital processes or replacing older digital technology with newer digital technology.

Digital solutions may enable – in addition to efficiency via automation – new types of innovation and creativity, rather than simply enhancing and supporting traditional methods (source).

Digital transformation in manufacturing seeks to integrate the physical world with the digital world through sensors (such as vision scanners) and data analytics. Through automating processes, it looks for insights that would add value to employees and customers.
